William (Bud) Garrick
In 2001, while commanding the Investigation Support Detachment of the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS), William (Bud) Garrick led an international police team that investigated alleged corruption, fraud and black-market activity involving NATO personnel on deployment in Bosnia. His efforts earned him the Chief of Staff’s Award, followed by a Vice Chief of Defence Staff Commendation and investiture into the Order of Military Merit.
These distinctions just skim the surface of a varied 30-year career in which Bud Garrick conducted and supervised police, intelligence and security operations both nationally and internationally. This diverse career includes providing leadership on numerous security related projects for the Canadian Armed Forces and in particular the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Bud also served as Deputy Director General of Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC). This inter-agency organization coordinates and shares criminal intelligence among member police forces. His career with the Military Police culminated with the appointment to command the CFNIS, where he reported directly to the Provost Marshal (chief) of Canada’s Military Police.
As a principal of Presidia, Bud Garrick’s principal role is providing expert strategic and operational security, intelligence and investigative advice and support to numerous federal government departments, provincial agencies and private corporations.
