During his 30-year military career, James Legere worked with all levels of government and with domestic and international police and security agencies in Canada, the Middle East, Germany and the United States. He served in various executive policing and security roles including Commandant of the Military Police Academy, Provost Marshal and Force Protection Officer for the Royal Canadian Air Force, and Chief of Staff for a newly-minted Canadian Forces Military Police Headquarters. This built a well of strategic expertise in public safety and security policy, operations and intelligence.
His international experience includes tours with the United Nations, NATO and bilaterally with the United States Military – first as a United States Air Force (USAF) Exchange Officer with Air Combat Command and later as Canadian Forces Liaison Officer to the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) in Suffolk, VA. In this latter position, he worked bilaterally with our closest ally to align joint force operations, and with counterparts from 19 different nations. His efforts earned him a Meritorious Service Medal from the USAF and a Joint Force Achievement Medal from USJFCOM.
As a principal of Presidia, James Legere provides expert strategic and operational security policy, threat and vulnerability assessment and emergency management advice to numerous federal government departments, provincial agencies and private corporations. Recently, he also put his international experience to work as a member of a select team assigned to the NATO Joint Warfare Center to provide subject matter expertise and mentorship on an exercise that certified multinational NATO headquarters in Stavanger, Norway and Thessaloniki, Greece.
